Week#4
Assignment #1
Reflection on stage #1 Backward Design:
The goal in backward Design is to be able to crate a curriculum based on the ultimate goals. Before I chose my goals I considered which standards I will be using to form my lesson(i.e. common core). According to the standards' I decided the goals I want my students to achieve at the end. I chose questions that will help me guide my lesson to my goals. I asked myself if the plan I created is going to get my students to the final learning goals. The questions are all based on the set goals for the lesson. Based on the students' prior knowledge and understanding I decided what they need to learn in this lesson. I picked important skills they will need to know for now and for their future education. I picked topics that are practical for their education. What I teach them now is to enable them move forward in their education. A student cannot come to college and start learning basic learning skills (i.e. researching), this has to be taught and practiced from a young age. This is the way I begin to design my lesson plan.
